Transcending Thinking in Metaphysical existentialism:A Dialogue between Jaspers and Sadra

 By: Dr. Touraj Noroozi

This paper aims at a comparative study between the metaphysical existentialism adumbrated by German philosopher Karl Jaspers and that of Mulla

Sadra of Shiraz. The paper focuses on a dialogue between the two in the way they treat “ Transcendence “ and “ Hermeneutics “ in diciphering the “ authentic “ dimensions of the ultimate human being.

Jaspers endeavors to create a stimulus to an “ inward action “ for human interactions and Sadra establishes an interplay between T’alluh and Ta’wil in reaching “ inner enlightenment “.

The paper also deals with the relationship between “ philosophical “,       “ gnostic “ and “ revelational “ faith in the writings of both philosophers whose commonalities could open a new field of dialogue between Western and perso-Islamic philosophy.
