In the meeting between the members of the Cultural Heritage Organization and the President of the Sadra Islamic Philosophy Institute, it was said that Iranian's exquisite handicrafts and rich cultural heritage represent their subtle spirit.          18.3.2008

Last week, a group of the Directors of the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism Organization visited with Ayatullah Khamenei in the Sadra Islamic Philosophy Institute. In this meeting, Dr. Bahramzadeh, the President of the Cultural Heritage Organization of Tehran Province, presented a report of the activities of this Organization at the national and international levels.

He said that the main goal of the Organization, following the order given by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, is to create a cultural movement and added that the writing of more than 10 ISI papers on civic management is only one of the activities of the Organization in order to reach this goal. In the rest of his report, he also referred to their successful experiences at the international level. Moreover, he said that Qazwin has been chosen as the meeting place of the Council of the Directors of the United Nations in 2008. The Center for Spiritual Heritage Studies will also be based in this city and work in close cooperation with London's Metropolitan University. At the moment, it is trying to register the 'Ashura Event as an Islamic spiritual legacy at the world level.

Ayatollah Khamenei, the President of the Sadra Islamic Philosophy Institute, while expressing his gratitude for the innovations and activities of this Organization, maintained that it is a pity that the supreme value of the cultural heritage is sometimes ignored and attention is only paid to its formal aspect in the country. He also said that our cultural and spiritual heritage and archeological achievements and findings are the most reliable existing documents for the discovery of the history of Iranians' national identity. Therefore, they have to be carefully guarded.

He continued that when we compare the old mosques built by Iranians with European churches, we understand the thought and philosophy behind them. The arches, domes, and tile-work created by our predecessors, indeed, represent the Iranian subtle spirit, which is very different from the unemotional spirit of Westerners.

At the end of this meeting, Ayatullah Khamenei told the members of the Cultural Heritage Organization, "You are not only the guardians of our cultural heritage but also the guardians of our spiritual and philosophical heritage."

In addition, a number of the members of this Organization's Board of Directors, including the Vice-president of Cultural Affairs and Relations, the Vice-president of the Handicrafts and Traditional Arts Center, the Director of the Public Relations Center, and the Counselor for Youth Affairs, who had attended the meeting, demanded more attention from the authorities, particularly concerning the export and standardization of handicrafts.
